Festivals:
Festivals and events are held all summer long in Salmon Arm and area, including the Shuswap Rodeo, Roots and Blues Festival, Bard on the Beach Shakespeare performances which run until late September, and more. These celebrations are highlighted by museum expositions, concerts, horseback riding, and other exciting events.
Several wine festivals are held from late summer to mid-October in the nearby area. If you arrive earlier in the year, you can take advantage of daily summer wine tours held at both Recline Ridge and Larch Hills Winery, Ltd.
Fishing
No matter the preference, you can fish fly, stream, small mountain lake or in the shuswap itself, all nearby Eagle Bay Landing Vacation Homes. Native stock includes Char, Rainbow, Kokanee and Burbot plus the world famous Sockeye migration which occurs from end of September to mid-October. Fly fishing guides are available in area. Bird Watching
Over 214 different bird species to view including Bald Eagle, Osprey, Blue Herons, Canada Geese, Trumpeter Swan, and the Western Grebe which is unique to the Salmon Arm Bay Nature Reserve.
Albas Falls (northwest end of Seymour Arm):
Reached by 75 minute boat ride from unit. Near Steamboat Bay there is a 1.5 hour round trip hiking area which requires appropriate shoes and water. Moderately strenuous but extremely beautiful. Noted for a series of beautiful waterfalls and some interesting features from early logging days. Steep, rough sections with sharp drop-offs do occur on the trail so children should be closely supervised.
Margaret Falls:
Located in Herald Provincial Park, take Sunnyside Road near Tappen. Only a 5-minute walk from the parking lot to see the huge waterfall. Behind the falls is a cave for the more adventurous.
